This is the family side of my father, Harmon Howard Meadows. The Meadows family came from the Hinton, Summers County, West Virginia area.
There is a Meadows Cemetery where several descendants are buried. Many of the graves are unmarked. My brother and his wife recently went to the cemetery and took pictures
of all the marked graves and the surrounding area.
To get to the Meadows Cemetery from Hinton, you would take Route 20 to Leatherwood Road, take a right onto Leatherwood Road and go up the Mountainside,
(a long and winding road), until you see a street sign for "Bower Vis", take a right onto that road until you get to the end and you will see several houses,
the cemetery will be on the left side of the road, from there you will have to walk up the side of a hill through a gated empty field. At the top of the hill
you will see the cemetery. It is fenced and gated. Very hard to find unless you have been there before.
Peter and Emma had several children that died at a young age. Some of their children are (William Roy, Ada Rachel, Bertha Florance, Delcie Marie, Dorothy Lee, Edith Madaline, Virginia Ilene,
Kenneth Jackson, Harmon Howard). Harmon Howard Meadows is my father.
SPECIAL NOTE: Emma's father (James William Meadows) is the brother of Peter's father (Peter M Meadows) making them first cousins.
Peter and Martha had several children between the years of 1880 and 1899 that died before the 1900 census.
Some of their children are (James Richard, William Everitt, John D, Peter Martin and Twins: James H and Minnie M). Peter Martin Meadows is my Grandfather.
SPECIAL NOTE: Since John D was born in 1881 he would have shown up on the 1890 census but it was destroyed by a fire. He was not listed on the 1900 census because
he was 19 years old and possibly already left home. His death record listed his parents as Peter Meadows and Martha Buckland and John also signed the death
certificate for his brother, Peter.
James and Ruth had five children (Emma Jane, Josie Alice, William J, Cam B and David W). Emma Jane Meadows is my Grandmother.
SPECIAL NOTE: James sometimes went by his middle name, William or nickname "Billy"
James and Melinda had seven children (Peter M, Elijah A, Sarah E, James William, Mary Ann, John C and Nancy Ellen). Peter M Meadows and James William
Meadows are my Great-Grandfathers.
Richard and Sarah had six children (Martha Melinda, John Shannon, James Rowland, Richard Pembroke, Leanna Virginia and Peter Martin).
Martha Melinda Buckland is my Great-Grandmother.
Elijah and Susannah had six children (Sarah Ann, Peter, George, Ruth Jane, Susan and Nancy J). Ruth Jane Wyant is my Great-Grandmother.
Francis and Nancy had thirteen children (William, Richard C, James William, Elizabeth, Sally Polly, Griffith A,
Emily, Analine, Francis, Serena, Vela, Rhonda C and Lewis G). James William Meadows is my Great-Great-Grandfather.
Peter and Sarah had ??? children (Elijah and Malinda). Elijah Wyant is my Great-Great-Grandfather and Malinda Wyant is my Great-Great-Grandmother.
Stephen and Melinda had seven children (Railburn Steven, Elizabeth, John Stephen, Francis W, James A, Richard W and Mary Jane).
Richard W Buckland is my Great-Great-Grandfather.
Robert and Miriam had eleven children (Angeline B, Sarah Lottie, Joseph, Leanna, James Robert, William R, Elias, Martin VanBuren, Chilnessa, Miriam J
and Luvenia). Sarah Lottie Wheeler is my Great-Great-Grandmother.
George and Anne had ??? children (Susannah L). Susannah L Ballinger is my Great-Great-Grandmother.
